I think it speaks for itself...

I wrote this poem while I was in China, but had to "do it up" to enter it into a competition for school towards the end of last year. Hope you enjoy it.
The Race Of Life

I’m standing at the starting line.
When I hear the whistle blow.
With legs braced and back arched,
I just can’t wait to go.

Bang! There goes the gun.
I start to sprint around the track.
I can’t afford to lose this race -
I can’t afford to be slack.

I know this race of life
Is not to be lightly taken.
For with every step - at every bend -
I’m sure to be tempted by Satan.

God has worked long and hard.
He’s trained me for years on end.
He’s taught me how to run this race.
And how, against Satan, I ought to defend.

It’s not a matter of coming first.
It’s a matter of not giving in.
Because, even if I do come last,
I still classify that a win!

Yes, the end is far away,
Indeed, it is a long way to run,
Still, I will run and persevere -
For the glory of God’s Son.
